Namaste was founded in 1998 by a group of hospice professionals. These professionals had the goal of providing excellent hospice care to the underserved. Since then, we have provided care to people who live under bridges and those who have no funding or insurance.  Namaste has continued to find other ways to support those who were not receiving home health, palliative and/or hospice services. We believe that everyone deserves these services as these services greatly improve quality of life.

When we heard that an important County in our Colorado community was not receiving these services, we quickly created a plan to change that, so that everyone could have access to this important care model. On July 6, 2021 Namaste will begin providing services in Grand County Colorado. We want to ensure that the residents of Grand County have the ability receive these services in their home.

The services that Namaste will provide to Grand County include:

Home Health – a broad spectrum of healthcare services that is delivered in your home for rehabilitation, an illness, or an injury. Frequently, Home Health care is the most convenient and least expensive method of receiving high quality healthcare services. Furthermore, Home Health care is equally as effective as receiving care in a hospital or skilled nursing facility. The goal of Home Health is to restore our patients to a prior level of function; helping them regain their independence and self-sufficiency. Treating illnesses and injuries in the home allows our patients the opportunity to recover in their most natural and comfortable environment.

Palliative Care – an ongoing conversation, one with specialists in chronic illness and end of life care. Namaste’s Palliative Care Program offers a safe place to process illness with a collaborative team of medical professionals. Often in the clinics and hospitals, doctors are moving quickly and may not have the time to educate patients on their illness, managing their symptoms and what to expect going forward. Palliative Nurse Practitioner, Social workers and nurses do just this. They sit one on one with a patient and often their family to educate, answer questions and focus in on quality of life. The Namaste team  also collaborates closely with a patient’s primary care clinic or specialist to make recommendations as they are seeing the patient regularly in their home setting.

Hospice – a philosophy aimed at providing palliative (comfort) care to patients in their end-of-life stages. To carry out these services, Namaste Hospice utilizes a medically-directed Interdisciplinary Team involving patients, their families, medical professionals and volunteers. We believe that a “family” includes anyone significant to the patient, regardless of blood relation. This means that Namaste will provide bereavement support to all family, not just the immediate family. Our goal is to provide comfort, dignity and quality of life for our patients. Every effort is made by the hospice team to provide maximum physical comfort for the patient. Once the patient is comfortable, the hospice team then focuses on preparing the patient and loved ones emotionally and spiritually for death, as well as support loved ones after their loved ones die.
